try syncing with itunes and then sync the ipad, make sure apps are set to sync on the ipad

As long as both the iPhone and iPad are using the same iTunes account, there should be no problem synching it to both. They're tied to the account rather than the specific device.

iTunes will sync all paid apps on both devices, I'm even finding paid iPad apps turning up on my iPhone after syncing.

If iPad is on the same account as iPhone, just download the app again. When it says "Buy Now" you hit it and it will begin to download, you'll then get a message popup saying you've downloaded the app before and hit okay if you want to download for free again. Been doing it with 2 iPhones and an iPad for a while. Works grand. It's all linked back to one account, providing you are using the same account of course!

Some of your apps might not be suitable for the iPad they will then come up in a phone size display
