M2 speed cameras coming?

Hi, anyone else seen the small plinths that have appeared by the roadside on the M2 Ashbourne by-pass? There's nothing on them yet but a small metal box that looks like it would take a post for a speed camera. And there's loads of them, I counted 5-6 on the north-bound side yesterday and saw more on the south-bound today. Surely they can't all be for cameras?

    cheers,
    B.

They are like VMS gantry foundations, the NRA had a tender out for these recently

There will be very, very few fixed speed cameras in Ireland seeing as there will be a private mobile operator.

edit: if they're very small, with a large concrete pad with one small metal mount on them, they're for emergency telephones.

and also currently on the Arklow bypass. Think the NRA tendered for 200 new ones recently enough, that'd cover about 160km of motorway at the standard spacing.

Aren't they just those SOS phone things that are on most motorways?
