"No Service"

I seem to be getting this a LOT in the last few days. iPhone 3gs. 3.12. Currently in my office and reception here is bad generally (1 bar, maybe 2) but I haven't been able to get anything all day. Also I got "no service" an unreasonable amount of times on the train on the way in this morning and yesterday a few times in my house (which is normally 5 bars). The phone hasn't taken any knocks or anything recently.

Should I be sending it back? Or is there something else I can try?

Have you tried a hard reset (pressing and holding the power and home buttons) or a Reset Network Settings in Settings > General > Reset (will need to re-enter Wifi settings after this).

Put it in to Aeroplane mode for a few seconds, and then out. Usually does the trick..

Thanks. I've tried this a bunch of times. Worked in the house alright (where reception should be spot on) but not in the office or on the train.

I haven't tried either of those things. Rebooting it is actually a pain in the hole for me (I've no windows or mac machine and it needs a tethered boot because I haven't done the upgrade to 3.1.3 yet). I'll give them both a lash though.

Have you updated to the RC2 in cydia. It doesnt require a tethered boot anymore.

Its for firware 5.11.07 ONLY though so maybe thats why you havent?

    Im on a 3GS 3.12 Jailbroked & Unlocked with blackra1n and sn0w.

Im able to boot / reboot to my hearts content now.

It might sound a bit mad but have you popped out the SIM and given it a blast with an air duster? Could be a bad contact, (though quite unlikely). Quicker to do than a reset, esp when jailbroken etc.

Wasn't aware of its existence to be honest. :) I have that firmware. Looking into it now. Much appreciated.

    Also a good idea. :)

So I installed that blacksnow rc2 (from the pushfix.info repository). Rebooted and no dice. It was still a tethered boot. Is there something else I need to do?
