In the last few days a clicking sound has developed down around the pedals area. I reckon it coming from the bottom bracket. It doesnt happen all the time and is worse when the crank is under duress e.g going up hill.
Stanger though is that it doesnt happen at all when the bike is off the ground (In a stand)

I have gone through the bike looking for anything that would generate the click but found nothing.

Am I on the right track with the BB do ya think?

I had exactly the same issue, very bad noise when going uphill. At the end we found that the bearings of the bottom bracket were completely gone.

Its only a click at the minute but it was getting worse on a spin on saturday.

    Thanks for your help!

it could also be coming from the headset.

Well the problem with mine was clearly the bb, when I was going on flat there was a light clicking and when you hit the hills the noise was too much.

I was just thinking as well that it only seems come from the right side of the crank. I can acutally feel something pulse on my shoe when its at its worst.

I dont think it coming from the headset but I will have a gander later to see if I can see anything there.

Its the most annoying sound.

Just remember that all noises on a bike appear to come from the bb. My bike was creaking recently and I spent a good deal of time disassembling greasing and reassembling the bb only to discover that it was coming from the front dropouts.

If its Shimano, it could be the bearings, but most likely you just need to do the following...

    Remove the BB.

    Clean and regrease the threads.

Tighten it back to the correct torque.

A lot of the outboard bearing systems like the Shimano and Sram 10 speed ones experience this kind of problem. Happens to me periodically. Everything is fine when cruising along but as soon as you get out of the saddle there is a click with every pedal revolution.

I have the same symptoms. Like I said I can actually feel the click through my right pedal. I will hopefully get a chance to remove and grease the BB this evening. This will hopefully solve the issue. I swear the click is following me. That or im losing it. Probably the latter!

Hope not to throw a spanner in the works here but i had the same thing .. turned out it was the pedal , had to remove the spindle grease it tighten it back up and job done , this was after i swapped out bottom bracket after a lot of people here saying it might not be the bottom bracket

No bother levitronix. I will take a look at the pedal again before I go taking out the bottom bracket.

NO Grease if your frame is carbon. there is stuff called carbon paste though, but don't use "normal" grease.
