So, me and the girlfriend are planning on going for a weeks holidays round the end of august. Wanna go somewhere where there's a good amount of nightlife, and yet lots of activities during the day, hiking, sailing, maybe a nice beach nearby. We're thinking maybe west wales (could get dodgy weather) or north-west france. We wanna be close to the coast, or at least a lake for water activities etc. Note that these places are only ideas and we will go anywhere the fun is at :-)

The problem is, our budget isnt *huge*. We could spare maybe 500 quid each for the holiday, hence flights will have to be cheap. We were thinking we could like to go to a small-ish town or small city (like the size of galway, cork or whatever) somewhere with all the above available and where we would get a real idea of the local culture or whatever for not as much money as the bigger places! Dont mind staying in hostels, in fact, would probably prefer it.

If anyone has any experience with this type of holiday in the aforementioned locations, or any other locations for that matter, please help :-)

Where could we go, close to ireland, that would have some fun activities to do?

We really dont know what to do!!
