Hi all, i am thinking of buying this LG model LCD,

    http://www.pixmania.ie/ie/uk/r/lg-42ld550

it would be for sky sd viewing, sd dvd playback, and my kid would probably hitch his xbox 360 to it.
I am not very up on LCD but as my old CRT 32" tv has just died i thought i might as well go with the newer options available.
any opinions would be very welcome indeed.
    thanks in advance,

    hi there

im far from an expert but seeing as no one is bothering to help you , il offer a few opinions

LG as far as i know are one of the more affordable tv,s , this tv seems quite expensive , its a 42 inch , once you go that size , plasma tends to be superior , it has 100 hz which is very good but has only 70,000 :1 contrast which is not much better than average , as regards sound , it looks good

not sure if you would be willing to shop up north but if you are , check out this sub forum http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/forumdisplay.php?f=1105

instead of asking about the above tv , describe what your looking for and a rep from richersounds store will reply to you on the public forum , they sell LG so perhaps they will suggest the exact tv you have highlighted , ive never bought off them but their prices seem very keen

Currys have this on offer for 479gbp. Its a great tv for that price with Full HD, 100Hz, wireless capability and great reviews. Its perfect for movies and sport but I think the lag time isn't great when hooked up to PS3 and XBOX so you may want to look into that a bit more.

I was in the exact same position as yourself a few weeks ago, purchased the LG42pj350 plasma from Richer Sounds Belfast as I had bought stuff from them before, post a thread in their forum and John, Kenny or Dave will help you out.

Love my tv and RS are tops for customer service and prices.

    Folks

Just bought the LG 42LD550 from Pixmania, quick delivery 4 days, standard cost, no need to go for express.

The TV is great value for money and I would recommend it for PS3/Wii and HD viewing.

I have a Samsung 6 series also which is great but I think the LG is slightly better.

    Best value around

    LS

If you haven't already bought this I would check with the guys on the Richersounds board, I just got the 42LE5300 from John, it's an LED 3 million:1 1080p set and I got it delivered and with a 5 year warranty for about €250/€300 less than Powercity or Currys are looking for.
