I just learned this morning that "Big Michael" from Foxtrot58 has passed away. Many of you will remember Micheal from the take aim cup this year as the guy on crutches due to a work accident. He was an absolute gent and went the extra mile to support his team mates even though he could not play due to his injuries. I can't say I knew Michael well, but in that one weekend I saw someone who loved the sport of airsoft. He was a credit to the sport and he will be missed. I want to express my condolences to his wife Wendy, and to his foxtrot team mates at this time of great loss.

There is a condolences thread on the foxtrot website at http://www.foxtrot58airsoft.com/foxtrot-58-airsoft-f7/condolence-thread-david-michael-wray-14-08-73-25-07-10-t844.htm

"At 1.30pm today Michael Wray (Big Michael / Gadgetman) passed away. He had been fighting a bad chest infection for the past week. Unfortunately paramedics were unable to do anything for him, although they tried their best, but it was not to be.

Michael was one of those guys who loved life and loved his guns as we all know. Now that he is gone he will be sorely missed. For those of you who did not know him you have most certainly missed out. He was a man who loved airsoft and enjoyed the company of fellow airsofters, he was not one to brag or boast. He just wanted to share his life experiences with us all and just loved to talk about airsoft and guns.

I hope that you will all join me in remembering Big Michael and send condolences to his family.

Michael leaves behind Wendy and a close family network and a lot of very good friends.

Michael we miss you, but we will see you again one day soon.

    Faugh-A-Ballagh"

By a strange coincidence I was watching the take aim video on youtube this morning and he was very prominent in it.

I got the opportunity to meet Micheal at the Take Aim Cup, we chatted for a while, even with him being on crutches he rallied his team and gave them a lot of support, constantly checking to make sure each member was ready for the next battle with words of encouragement and checking that they had all the equipment they needed.

great guy, I'm sure he will be sadly missed

I was very sorry to hear that news. I met Michael at the Take AIM Cup and his love for airsoft and his support to his team were very evident. Well played that man.

I met big Michael on a number of occasions. the first time last summer up at foxtrot, also at the Take Aim Cup in November. He was a pure gent every time i met him. Always there for a good chat and always willing to lend a hand.
He'll be sadly missed and my thoughts go out to his family and close friends.

A gentleman. I remember at take AIM cup, he brought along his CO2 M4 and let a hotel employee have a go at shooting down the chrono range. The fella looked like he had a ball and went away with his mind completely changed. Also sold me on CO2 rifles :-)

    He will be missed.

Michael's family, team, former comrades from Cyprus & the Falklands and his friends gave him a great sendoff. Guard of Honour, Piper, the whole 9 yards. Let's just say he won't run out of BBs up in heaven for a while.

Shane and I would like to say thanks for the incredible hospitality shown by everyone, especially Big Sam and the whole Foxtrot 58 company.

Their inter-platoon competition has been renamed the "Michael Wray Memorial Cup". I hope we can work out a way of getting involved some day.

    Slán go fóill, a chara.
