Right so I got a SE Xperia.

Is it possible to USB tether this to my laptop and not incur tether charges? Or is there another way to get internet through it.

    Better question.

Is there an Android pad I can tether it to, something along the lines of an ipad, but preferably with usb ports and stuff.

What are you trying to do, surf the internet on your laptop using the data connection on the xperia? That will use your data allowance on your phone.

But my price plan had a separate charge for tether, when does that come into effect?

have you an internet add on already?, shouldn't be charging you if you have, can you not get one add on that will do both phone and tethering.

Oh atm I have nothing, just curious as to what I could do.

But basically it is possible to browse on my laptop with that counting towards my normal data allowance?

Yes, my 1Gb internet add on lets me do whatever I want tethering etc

If you've a smart phone you'll need an internet add on to get the most out of it.
If your on bill pay at the moment don't attempt to use any internet on the phone without an add on it'll cost you a fortune.
