I don't use mobile broadband often, but i've always noticed that windows 7 acts like wireless networks are available even when i have the wireless turned off. To me, this obviously meant one thing, that it was picking up mobile wireless instead. So i just tried to connect to the internet, sans the mobile parnter and voila! Tá an interwebs working, no issue, and i no longer have to put up with o2 launching my browser when i connect. I was not aware Win7 had the networking functionality built in, but i'm sure it's been there for a while! Has anyone else been using this all the time?

[edit] it appears this probably belongs under Midband, please feel free to move!

[edit2] ah ha! so, I can set this o2 mobile connection at my default connection. Then set the internet options to always dial my default connection, and not it connects immediately as soon as i log in, no mobile partner! woohoo!

It's just a "dail up" Networking connection. You can do this on ANY os that actually works with the dongle. Works on XP, Linux... I think you only need the other app to enable/disable PIN and send/rx SMS.

I understand this, i just have no idea why it never occured to me before now! :o I shall have to refer to it as a blonde era, not just a moment (no offence to blondes, i actually love strawberry blondes :pac: )

Anyway, i was more interested in sharing the thought and finding out how many other people out there are making use if the fact!? or do most people just go with that app, launching it, waiting for it to load, waiting for it to "detect" the device. Waiting for it to connect. getting p!ssed off when it conveniently launches the browser for you!
