    Asking on behalf of a friend viisting from UK and needs mobile BB in Newport. Who are the best providers?

    There are only 4 providers, you need to see which ones have cover in the area you're in, then check them out. There is no way to know what's best until you try it out.

    Three works in Newport.I dont think Vodafone have a 3G signal around Newport.Dont know about O2 or Meteor.

    Moving 1km could give a different answer.

    Check out the midband speed survey thread in my sig to get an idea of what order you might try them in. This is mostly an arbitrary process though, but you can use any mobile phone to search for available networks, which is a start.
