I was hoping to get some admin work but alas, most jobs demand at least 3 years experience before they even consider taking you. And there is also the queasy knowledge that there are many others looking as well. I just want my foot in a door for the moment, will work for minimum wage and will relocate anywhere in the country. Are there any prospects for this kind of work?

I've been applying for these too as I worked in an office during college holidays and no replies so far..

would you try and get work experience in some office - even just few weeks to be able to put on your cv to say you have done it

"Admin work" is a pretty broad term!

If you're a graduate you might find some low paid data entry graduate job, particularly in Dublin.

Fas courses with work experience are a good way to get some experience in this area. Unfortunately all the Fas people on work experience tend to keep labour costs pretty low in unskilled admin work!

I've got over twenty years and can't get anywhere!!!

Trouble is, employers want all that and everything, but don't want to pay for the experience and expertise...

I've been told I'm too senior for the jobs, not enough experience (WTF - Did you READ the CV????), yadda, yadda, yadda.

I would have thought it might be easier at the other end of the spectrum, but it seems not!

Just keep plugging away - we'll get lucky one day!
