    Hi folks,

Does anyone here use a pigeon flapper with a dead crow for crow busting? Just something I have been wondering about lately.

    Well John,
A man i go shooting pigeons with sometimes has a couple. With the rotary and two flappers they keep coming in. He puts two crow deeks at the edge of the decoy pattern and this pulls them in. We have often put two crows on the rotery which works well too. We've never went just for crows though but i presume it would work similiar.

we use 2 peckers or flappers, 6 bouncers with cradles on them plus spinner, went to standing corn yesterday 3 0f us shot 70 odd pigeons and crows, went at half 6 this morn to cut corn shot over 160 pigeons, but we shoot about 2500 acers for farmers and supplied me with 1500 cartridges already this year, flappers are fantastic on stubble, lot of corn cut here we shooting over 2 weeks now. when crow shooting we use flapper and bouncers over standing corn, even in a green field if they passing never fail to come in for a look.

Yes - I've often gone out specifically for crows......put dead crows or flying decoys in spinner & on bouncers. Works very well.

I used a flying crow decoy called air - crow pro........wherever they are put (on tall stakes) the crows fly between them. I put one on either end of decoy pattern & they come right in over the decoys...very good.

Air Pro Crow (looks shiny in photo with sun reflection but isn't this shiny in real life)

John, i use the flapper in conjunction with a caller for Gray crow and magpie shooting!
Tried it out a couple of years ago just to see if it would work!
Its brilliant, brings grays down out of the elements, and although it's to big for a Magpie, the mags will come into it just as quick as a gray!

I've also shot plenty of mags and grays, that just land beside the flapper, and are shot before they even know there's a gun pointed at them!!!:D

It really needs to be a real Gray crow mounted on the flapper, the plastic ones don't work half as good!
I don't know if this is what u had in mind, but if so, then it's essential that your fully camoflaged, head to toe, mask, gloves, the lot!;)

Good stuff so far guys :)

Are some makes or brands of flapper more reliable/durable than others?

Cant help with brands john. What i seen a lad do before was get one of them thin metal stake things. You know the ones (reddy colour with the insulater on the top) for fencing horses. He dickyied it up with a coat hanger on top. A bouncer/flapper thing. I see some use a string but i dont knoow did he.
