howdy, im a long time lurker but have as yet not posted anything in this forum...
I have a sewing machine and love making bags etc, i want to get more into clothing, i have some great material that im dying to make a dress out of.

I feel however that i really dont have enough skill to be able to do this, i have no idea how to do out a pattern or any of the technical nitty gritty.

My bags always turn out well enough and i have sold a couple, but even then i dont make proper patterns its more by luck they come out ok.

Obviously making dresses etc would be much more difficult.
I'd love to do a course that wud show me all these things, the problem is i dont have set work hours and work till 8:30 pm, so i dont no what nites or anything i wud be able to go to a dress-making course...
is there any in existence that wud be flexible?and that i wudnt have to stick to the same nite all the time?

You could try 'The Grafton Academy' in Dublin, they run lots of courses that might suit you!

A new Sewing Circle has started up recently run from Temple Bar - tea and biscuits while sewing and learning tips/sharing ideas. Sounds fun!
Here is a facebook page for it!

    Hi,

this sewing circle in temple bar sounds like a good idea. Do you know if it be a good place to go for technical advice? I've a reasonable knowledge of construction, but would be grateful for any technical advice without having to pay for the grafton academy or some such. And i do love tea.

I'd say ask on the page - I know the girl who organises it and she's great - full of advice. No harm popping in once sure and see if you enjoy it :)
