Anyone know any good furniture shops to get a nice modern sofa?
Been looking all over so any help would be much appreciated.
Will drive anywhere in Ireland or possibly even UK.

You should try the Sofa Factory - they make sofas themselves. http://www.thesofafactory.com/index.html

We went to this place in Drogheda today. They have a lovely showroom, the web site does it no justice. Bit pricey, but they gurantee your sofa in 14 days and the stuff is really top notch.

I bought an apartment this time last year and furnished the majority of it with furniture from Talbot Furniture which is on the Dublin Road outside Athy. He has a large range of stock in store but deals with many of the big distributors too.

Maybe my suite wouldn't be to your taste but i'm sure the guy (I think his name was Ian) would be able to assist. Very friendly and personal service.

Not a great photo attached but you'll the kinda stuff he has

G furniture on tuam road galway is great. Took us 2months to decide on our suite I knew exactly what I wanted and wouldn't settle for less!
It's only opened earlier this year run by 2brothers. Sound guys.

They have a huge range of fabric books to choose from you can get pretty much get any style in any colour or pattern and get co-ordinating/contrasting cushions, footstools etc.
I was in market for a cloth suite though...from all my shopping around it's easy to get leather suites

Suite was made in Monaghan so you're supporting Irish craftsmen (and women!) and it was delivered within 2wks of ordering.
Website gfurniture.ie If you go ask for Declan

    Good luck in your search!

    Hello,

Kian Furniture on the Kylemore Rd have really nice sofas and they are very keenly priced. There is also Home Couture which is across the rd and the last time I was in there they had some gorgeous corner sofas.

And last but not least you could try Bo Concept which are in Beacon South Quarter, Sandyford Ind Est. They are a little but more expensive than the other two but again really nice.

I have bought furniture from all three shops and I have never been disappointed.

    Good luck.

My wife is convinced that she wont find a better sofa than the one she found online (see photo) in Ireland. I'd like to prove her wrong so we can keep the business in Ireland rather than this UK website.

Anyone seen anything similar around the same price (total including delivery is about €1200). When I say similar - it preferably needs to be almost exactly the same - she's quite particular ;)

We're based in Dublin - but I'm happy to travel.

Meubles in Kilkenny have a great range. Some can be quite pricey but good selection of fabric sofas.

I have recently had the same problem, and i had to stretch my budget a little higher to get what i wanted, but I found the dream sofa !! if you look up FAMA it is a spanish sofa designer and they have beautiful contemporary sofas, you can pick from hundreds of colours/fabrics/patterns and get exactly what you want. they are in retailers throughout ireland, I got mine in McDermotts in Castlebar, Co. mayo. and i know you can get them in galway too. I received my sofa on friday past and am so happy with it and have gotten so many compliments :) best of luck in your search

They have Fama in Meubles too but they are pricey. You'll just have to keep looking around cos there are plenty of shops around the country with great fabric couches.

Got mine recently (red leather love seat,2 seater and 3 seater couchs)from Reids in Airside Retail Park.

Haggled like feck with the sales guy and was walking away with my money clearly visible in my hand, and he fell for it.He didnt want to lose another sale and his commission either.;)

I got my suite at the price I wanted to pay for it.:D

There is alot of furniture manufactures in Monaghan that will make whatever you want. We got our sofa for our previous house from Sofa 21 and I was back up there again lately about furniture for my new house. They will make pretty much the exact stuff I want. Margaret is lovely to deal with and has hundreds of fabrics to choose from. The have a small selection of what they can make in there show room, but if u explain what you want they can make it for you.

Has anyone used either Jaybee Sofaworks in Glasnevin (http://www.sofasireland.com/)

or Sofa Plus in Dublin 12 (http://www.sofaplus.ie/) for custom made sofas?

I'd recommend AJ Furniture in Capel Street in Dublin city centre. They do bespoke sofa's and the choice of fabrics are great. I bought 2 sofa's from them. One was a good few years ago and it was very good quality. They have a website but it isn't great. http://ajfurniture.net/index.html

Not in Monaghan, but Begley Interiors in Dundalk makes great sofas.

I would recommend the sofa factory in Drogheda as well.

We bought two made to order sofas from them 4 years ago, and they do exactly as they say on the website and instore, they will make whatever you want within 14 days. They have a huge selection of fabrics and styles if you don't have an idea of what you want yourself.

The sofas are big, deep and comfortable and weigh a ton, they are solid! I reckon we'll get the main one recovered in a few years and they offer this service as well.

From memory we paid about €2500 for the two sofas, one was a 3.5 seater and one was a 2.5 seater, which at the time was good value after looking in every furniture shop from Dublin to Monaghan.

Try EZ living who have nice white 2/3 seaters at the moment. Instore always have some nice ones but wait for a sale for the best value !!!

I received very poor service from Sofa Plus. Poor quality work, aggressive attitude when I tried to complain. Would not recommend

Can anyone recommend, preferably Dublin, where I can find a nice, large,
comfy corner sofa? It needs to fit into an awkward area so it will need to
be custom made. Most places we've tried are way over priced. Cheers

I went to Ikea - bought a leather version of the Karlstad - about 6 weeks delivery but for Euro 699 it is the best value/quality/comfort sofa I have ever owned.

And looks nice and modern - i.e. mid-20th C modern.

I had been looking at loads of other stuff in shops in Cork and couldn't help but feel I was paying for someone's range rover with the prices I was being quoted.

After quite a search we got exactly what we wanted in the end.. Found these guys on DoneDeal http://www.donedeal.ie/for-sale/livingroom/1036849 www.homedesign.ie to be excellent! They came to the house to check over my drawings, measurements etc and gave some really good advice. They have a nice selection of modern fabrics and quality and comfort is first class. Price was very reasonable for the size at €2250 and they also threw in some extra funky cushions for free! Thrilled.
