Broken bus ticket - Arrgh!

Right lads, here is the story.

I have a €75 student 30-day bus ticket. I have been using these for a good while.

I have a new one with 28 days (as of validation today) left on it.
It worked grand but it broke today.

I used it on the 46A this morning, it worked grand, got off, then used it 20 minutes later on the 11 - but this time it didn't work. Bus driver let me on anyway, that was grand, I assumed the bus machine was broken.

Just got the 145 now, and it didn't work - it is completely broken. The bus driver even tried his own machine in his cabin.
He made me pay the fare (while I understand that he could not have known that I was genuine, it still grates that I had to pay when my ticket had been validated today:mad:), and he was kinda rude about it.

What I want to know is what happens now?
Can I get a new ticket minus a day or two?
Do I have to go into town?
Will they try and tell me its my own tough luck?:(

Go into Dublin Bus head office and explain your story. They will most likely refund you for your journey on the 145.

Exact same thing happened to me with my 30-day student bus pass. They'll replace it at Dublin bus. Just remember to bring your travelcard! :)

DB HQ will sort you, there are some dodgy smart cards out there (damaged by pin's or microwave ovens etc). But genuine cases will be sorted by 59.

Did you leave the wallet on top of the microwave?
Look its not a major problem, as said already Dublin bus will replace the ticket with a new one and refund any cash fare you paid.
Providing you have a valid student travelcard of course.

It just broke in my pocket - the only thing that I can think of is my phone, but thats a complete guess.
