I have been there several times and yes it is a mecca for old cars. The only problem is many of them are scruffy with bumps and dents a d torn interiors.
The MOT was introduced there not so long ago so I would imagine that many of the wrecks will be going off the road therefore loads of available parts.

apparently there is a museum over there with the only three airplanes they had during the second world war to defend themselves ,accordingly as they got damaged or shot down they repaired them every time , they are called faith hope and charity, just thought i would mention all my malta knowledge in one paragraph

i was over there last summer and it is a mecca as most people say. even all the buses are old and a cheap way to get around once you get the way they work/routes. if you get a chance go up to Bugibba (sp?) and there is a great car museum there. i had a long chat with the guy who worked there, very interesting place.

    here is their website.

The planes were/are Gloster Gladiator bi-planes....same type as also used by the Irish Air Corps for training and patrols during WWII.

you will be like an owl with a 360o head, there are lots travelling the road although as said battered up with usually a diesel engine stuck under the bonnet although there is quite a large classic car scene over there but it very quiet and discreet for some reason, the is also a drag strip out at the old army base cant remember the name but its south of the island during summer months not much happening though its to hot.
if you can and you u should visit medina at night its a walled city in the mountains, extremely beautiful and quiet(its called the silent city)
have a meal there or a few drinks within the walled city its so picturesque,i have a friend in malta not far from the airport luqa,he is is into avengers to and is excellent at body work for an enthusiaist if you wish to meet up with him i could pm details enjoy your trip i quite enjoyed it there
