Right this IOS4 on my iphone 3G is a load of rubbish. It's grinding my 3g to a halt. Its so bad that when I have the ipod going then I open itunes it's bombing the ipod and if I want to go back to 3.1.2 a lot of my apps wont be compatible cause they're updated for 4.0.

Good god what have they done!

On another note the new BBC app would be pretty good if wasn't hindered by performance issues.

They're forcing the iphone4 on me.

Anyone else having a hard time?

There are loads of other threads on this if you search for them. Generally doing a restore as a new phone seems to cure all the problems. I know it did with mine.

So format, restore new phone and can I sync back up again?

I just had to have a rant about it... get it off the chest.

Yes, but you will lose SMS messages, as you will not be using the backup.
You should be then able to sync everything back up after.
