Photoshop: Best selection removal method?

    Hope this is the right place for this question! :confused:

    I am trying to remove a the background from a photograph! In face I have done this using channels. It looks pretty good, just the hair isn't perfect. To an untrained eye it would prob be fine but an experienced photoshoper might give it the aul "tut tut".

    I did manage to improve it somewhat by zooming right in and deleteing the dark pixels (which are part of original background) between some hair. I also used the dodge tool to lighten some remaining ones so its not all that bad!

    But I would like to know if you guys use any better methods!!
