    Make and Model: Acer Aspire 5535

    Is it in warranty? Does warranty cover liquid damage? :D

    Operating System: Windows Vista

    CPU, RAM, GPU: 2.0Ghz ; 2048MB RAM;

    Have a friends laptop here that won't power on. Alot of water spilled on it a few weeks ago so I assume it's dried out by now (could be wrong)

    When the laptop is plugged into the charger the green LED for charging comes on but it won't power on still

    Just want some advice on what I should do to make it move. I read that if I open it up and leave it to sit it should completely dry it out. I've even read of people sticking it in the oven to dry it out, I won't be doing that... yet :rolleyes:

    If it happened a few weeks ago i would guess that the water has dried out by now. It really is hit or miss in these situations, you could get lucky and it works, but then again.
    If someone tried to turn it on while it was still wet, ie just after the spill they could have fried it.

    D'awwh :(

    Is there any definte way of checking if the motherboard is fried?
    If so my friend has one very expensive paperweight :p

    Also that LED that does come on when it's connected to the mains with the battery in, that'd be connected to the motherboard would it?

    Thanks :D

    Unless your friend has Accidental Damage Protection, he will have to pay for any repair out of pocket. Warranties by their definition only cover defects and workmanship issues.
