Influences are irrelevant - you just need to want to play rock music.
You should be able to sing, and if you can play more instruments, that would be a bonus.
Virtuosity not necessary - you need to be rhythmically solid and able to learn melodies and riffs quickly.
Previous gigging experience a must.

I've just PMmed you with more detail as to what I'm looking for. Don't really want to post it here, as I want to leave this open to all types of players from any kind of background.

Only thing I did forget to mention is that I'm based in dublin and have over 13 years gigging experience!

That doesn't make sense to me. You don't want to put more details down as you think people will be discouraged? Do you not think it'd be better to be as open as possible with regard to what you're looking for so that you don't potentially waste people's time when they discover they're unsuitable after they've taken the time to make contact?

Sounds to me like he does not want to prejudice the process. Anyways if someone is too busy to email then they are probably too busy to be in a band.

That doesn't make any sense either. How does putting more information into your post prejudice a process? Are you saying that if the OP puts up that he's influenced by Aerosmith for example that non-Aerosmith fans will be turned off?

Also I think you've misunderstood my other point. I'm not saying that someone would be too busy to simply make contact by e-mail. I'm saying that, in the event that it turns out the OP is a big Aerosmith fan and a prospective applicant isn't and doesn't want anything to do with their type of sound, a lot of time would have been saved if things had been clearer from the outset.
