hi lads i have been thinking about it for a long time if to buy one of the 12 volt deben lithium ion battery packs but a friend has put me off he is really up on gadgets and tech stuff and he said that the usable life span of the deben battery pack would only be about 2 years he said that its based along the same lines as the battery in a moblie phones and that the batterys efficiency would reduce by about 25% every year that means after the second year that i would only be getting half the lamping time out of the battery pack

i think if i am going to fork out between €170-€200 for a lithium ion battery pack i would expect to get a bit more that 2 years out of it
whats peoples thoughts on this one

ive had one for the last 2 years use it regulary at least once a week with a lightforce 170(100watt bulb),not had one ounce of trouble with it,
i get roughly a 5-6 hr lamping session out of it when it dies of power(unlike lead sealed which die off gradually)its shuts down, recharge for 8 hrs and its good to go,i was so impressed i bought a back up

i am glad to hear someone has one a few year and its still going well i have been saving a few weeks to buy one(hard to save with a missus and two kids but hay thats life)i will be using the lightforce lamp aswell with it i just got put off a bit when my mate said about lithium ion batterys loosing so much efficiency over such a short period of time
what amp battery do you have and how much did it cost you i know it was 2 year ago but just to see if they have rose or dropped in price in that length of time i had my eye on the 14amp pack just to have the little extra back up power for those longer lamping nights

ive two 10ah packs,at the time thats all they offered until recently,i think if you want to compare these packs campare them to a lithium ion battery off the likes of a hilti cordless drill, i think at the time i paid about 170 euro each

I have the deben lithium ion battery pack and I thinks it great, You dont even know you are carrying it and its small enoigh to fit in yourhunting jacket pocket, Mine is allso the 10amp and Ive it a year now and find it as good as the day I first got it, 1 problem with it is when it dies it gives no warning it just turns off, And im not shure if it works well with lamps over 1mill cp, I got mine from "Arthurcarterfieldsports.co.uk" it cost £139.99 GB Pounds without post and package, Its worth checking him out as I found him excellent to deal with,

just an update i emailed deben about the life of the batterys and this is the reply i got

Hi, Thanks for your enquiry. They degrade to 70% of their capacity after
400 full discharges. (They are still very usable at this point). I would
expect a degradation of between 10 and 15% per annum (1% per 30 days) in
storage conditions. They are easy to look after and difficult to damage
    thanks to their protection circuit
