Converting estate car to commercial

Has anybody converted a car to a commercial, in particular an estate?

At the moment i have a van and a car and dont drive either all that much. The van is for a part time job but a trailer would do the same job without the DOE servicing, tax etc. I want to replace both with one vehicle and a car trailer.

I was thinking about converting an estate to commercial to get the low road tax and keeping the comfort and handling of a car. Something like a Passat, A4 or Volvo estate. I cant see any for sale but somebody must have done this before?

if your doing it to a car with vrt paid on it, it is possible , if its a uk car youll be paying 13.3% vrt, conversions can be done yourself for 2-300 euro or by a company such as OGH for 1300 euro or so , do it before january though as the gov'ment are working on plans to f*ck this up at the moment, : http://www.irishtimes.com/newspaper/motors/2010/0721/1224275141071.html

It's possible. A B6 Passat Variant would qualify for the €50 VRT (if imported) - Belgard Motors used to sell them, as Dennings Crash repairs in Tallaght did the conversion.

If you are looking at importing, then do it soon as regulations are changing 2011 so you wouldn't get low VRT.
