Having a problem with both IE8 and Windows Live Msg. When I go to open either I get a pop up saying it isnt responding followed by another saying it was closed due to 'Data Execution Protection', but when i click to get help the Help@Microsoft also doesnt respond and the same 'Data Execution Protection' pop up appears. I have re-installed Live Msg but the same problem occurs and tried to re-install IE8 via Google Crome but it won't work due to a newer version of it already existing. I tried to delete the older version but it won't delete. Anyone have any solution to this? I have done several scans and there is no virus or anything. Cheers.:)

Did you recently update using windows update?

I did, and I couldn't get onto any internet browser without crashing my comp.

Had to do a system restore.

Remove IE8 by folowing the steps below.. :

Hope that ur OS is Windows Vista:
To uninstall Internet Explorer 8, follow these steps:
    Close all programs.
Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
Click Uninstall a Program under the Programs category
In the Tasks pane, click View installed updates.
In the list of installed updates, double-click Windows Internet Explorer 8.

Note If Windows Internet Explorer 8 does not appear in the list of installed updates, ping me bak for other steps(but it shud be there!!).
In the Uninstall an update dialog box, click Yes.

Note If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type the password, or click Continue.
Follow the instructions to uninstall Internet Explorer 8.
When the uninstall program is finished, restart your computer.

Let me kno if this helps!!

Sorry for the late reply - am only seeing this now as I gave up trying to fix the problem as Google Chrome worked fine and I found it to be faster than IE anyway. However I needed to use Live Msg the other day and it still isnt working - the non responding due to Data Execution Protection again - and it has spread to various other programes such as WinZip and Avira protection. So I just went and did as you suggested and it didnt work. I also uninstalled Msg and Win Zip and reinstalled them both but the problem is still happening. I then went and try and turn off the Data Execution Protection by right clicking on My Computer etc but it won't let me turn it off for IE, Msg or Win Zip. Do you have any futher suggestions. It is very annoying - as I have done virus scans etc and found nothing - overall my computer is running fine so it makes no sense. Cheers.

And jayteecork no I didnt recently update. Although I did have my laptop cleaned a while before it first started to happen.
