    Hey guys,

Just wondering if any of ye are insured on an STI Type R and who yer insured with?
I've the car for 2 and a half yrs and my policy is up for renewal. I'm with Quinn but they've decided to increase by over €200 so its time to shop around i guess. Most places i've contacted refuse to quote unless u push them and then its an astronomical price!! Even Quinn refused to insure me last year but i managed to worm my way around it.

There must be some other insurance company out there who are insuring these cars??

    P.s i'm 27/male/6yrs ncb

As it's an import, I reckon you'll be lucky.

All my Imprezas were with Hibernian / Aviva (Turbo 2000 Wagon, WRX Saloon and WRX with PPP) Travellers (WRX, STi, STi) but they were all Irish cars out of main dealers with only Subaru supplied & fitted & warrantied upgrades

I'm Imprezaless for the last 4 years.

Brokers told me Travellers ain't taking on new customers on Type R's anymore so I can only assume it's the same for Evo's, Scooby's etc.

I've heard good things about Setanta Insurance but can only be got through a Broker.....I can't comment myself. Just transferred insurance from my old car to my DC5 Type R & due renewal quote from Quinn in October. I'm expecting something high enough. Alot of people I've talked to have had there insurance increase this year by 100 to 200. Can't comment as to why but I'm sure someone knows.

    Cheers guys,

Tried most of the brokers and they're not much joy, closest i could get to Quinn was surprisingly Axa but they were still coming in at €1,650 compared to €1,175. Looks like i'n stuck with the extortionists for another year! I suppose its not the worst price but still the fact its gone up is a kick in the teeth.

As for why its gone up they say its purely due to the increase in claims this year (possibly due to flooding in certain areas). My argument there would be that they should increase the price of the policies of the people who are claiming and not the people who take care of their cars or don't get involved in accidents! Suppose the f**kers have to keep their profits up. Funny thing is when i made that argument with the lady on the phone and commented about how Quinn are in financial difficulties she insisted they weren't, she had her 'stock' answer ready and waiting. They really do think customers are morons. A company having being in administration sounds like financial problems to me. Anywho rant over. I just hate bending over for them while they smile down the phone to you!!

    I HATE renewal time!!!
