Just been to PC World at the square in Tallaght and bought a 64gb wiFi & 3G, they have lots of iPds in stock

They got 100 of these in and so far have only sold 10 of them

Hope this helps some of you

They haven't started discounting them yet, have they? ;)

I think everyone went a bit over the top when guessing the demand for the product here. I don't think there would be the same demand for this type of product here in Ireland in comparison to the UK and the US. But I suppose with the Stock levels being low, people were right to get them early and when they could.

How much did it cost OP?

I think the fact that they're launching so close to the launch of the iPhone 4 has quelled much of the demand and hype.

If vie got tome this evening I might tip on round to one of them, they don't shut till around 9 so shouldn't take any longer the an hour for me to drive to one, pricing pretty much the dame as up north also. I'd like to have bought direct from apple though

They also had like hundreds of the things at PC World at Jervis centre. There were like two people looking at them but not buying. Certainly no lines to get one. I think that the people that wanted one so badly have already gotten theirs from Belfast or where ever. It seems the driugt is over as they seem to have sufficient stock to last them until iPad rev 2.

Jervis street could be best for me,I'm gonna be up in Dublin tomorrow anyway, might head up that bit earlier and tip on round before I go to the game, 32 gig wifi is what I'm looking for.

I agree anyone who was really really keen for one would have already gotten it from Belfast or the US. It really makes no sense that the Irish launch is so late after the UK one given our proximity.

That's it isn't it. Anyone who is likely to succumb to hype and do things like take a day off work or queue overnight, would have already gotten an iPad from overseas by now. The sane people of this country will head out this evening after work or tomorrow to buy them. There was no reason for queues or whatever today because those people already have theirs :)

The iPhone 4 launch will be a little busier because anyone buying on a contract gets it heavily subsidised and so will be waiting for the IE launch.

Combined with the fact that Ireland has a tiny population. How many of these things could they possibly sell?

My guess would be a lot of these things wont get bought until after payday. I dont get them at all. What gap do they fill?
At home I use my laptop. Out I use my iPhone.

Seamus, you got this in one. There is very good demand in our stores today but there's been no mad frenzy. We are now starting to run out of some models in some stores. 40 % of the total launch allocation will sell today and I'd forecast that the bulk of the rest will be gone by tomorrow. This would be somewhat faster than the UK launch

I've decided I'm going to wait until my next payday to get one. I could get one today but I'm going on holidays to Scandanavia next week and I want to make sure I've got enough of a buffer in case of any emergencies (or if i do lots of shopping:P)

As for not getting why people want one, personally I don't have an iPhone, so using that out isn't an option for me. I want something that is lightweight that I can use when travelling to do download photos, do email/internet and use as an ebook reader. It will certainly beat carrying around my laptop and 3 - 4 books.

I think apple sort of shot themselves in the foot with the launch In the 2nd batch of countries, iPhone 4 launches next week and there is only so much money to go around. So for most people it's a choice between pad and phone and the phone will always win.

Also a lot of people on here me included have there iPad since either April or the Uk launch date. So I have cash to spare for next Friday or whenever they announce price plans.
