Apple Launches Free iPhone 4 Case Program

Apple has launched their iPhone 4 case program on their site at http://www.apple.com/iphone/case-program/. The program offers iPhone 4 customers an App Store App that lets them apply for their free iPhone 4 bumper case.
    1. Download the iPhone 4 Case Program app from the App Store.
    2. Launch the app on your iPhone 4 and sign in using your iTunes Store account or Apple ID.
    3. Select your Bumper or case.

For iPhone 4 purchases made before July 23, 2010, you must apply no later than August 22, 2010; otherwise, you must apply within 30 days of your iPhone 4 purchase. To qualify for this program, you must purchase your iPhone 4 by September 30, 2010.

For existing customers who have already purchased an iPhone 4 bumper case, Apple also provides instructions. All credit card customers should already be seeing refunds, while those who paid with Cash, Check or Gift card at retail stores will need to bring their receipt back to the Apple Store.

US only! It won't let me download it with my Irish account.

How are those of us who bought in Belfast going to get the case?

The app will probably be available in Ireland after July 30th. Clearly they're not going to supply a bumper with new phones - you'll have to ask for one if you want it.

Wait till it launches in Ireland. Or find someone with a UK iTunes account :)

It would make sense to give bumpers out with new phones in countries that haven't yet launched.

That way they'd save on the admin and postage of a bumper to every new buyer.

They're probably hoping that 99.5% of people won't bother applying for a bumper since it's not a problem for them. :)

You think anyone entitled to a free bumper won't apply regardless of whether they need it or not?!

iPhones aren't cheap and free is free. :p

At least 30% of people won't even know about this free bumper and at least 50% of the rest won't bother applying for one.

Never underestimate the laziness of your average person.

Why aren't Apple handing the bumpers out with the iPhones?? This is ridiculous that you have to get an app, etc. Grr. I'm buying an iPhone tomorrow in Belfast, and I want a bumper. Does this mean that I have to buy one tomorrow?

Because they can't make enough of them. You won't be able to buy one, apple have they removed them from the shelves and are giving them away free.

Just ordered one via the app using an U.S account, we'll see what happens.

I'm going to wait till the app is on the Irish iTunes. Hopefully will be there on the 30th.

I have more faith in the iPhone generation to be aware and to avail of an offer. :)

The take-up stats will be interesting, though.

    So Belfast has cases???

I was in London and Bristol last week and the Westfield, Regent St and Bristol stores had no cases of any kind for the 4. If fact Westfield didn't even have any docks - had to go to Regent Street for a dock!

They all said that they had been forced to send their entire stock of cases back to Apple because of the 'free case' program so that they had enough stock to satisfy the expected demand.
