    Hi all

I guess my story wont be unique but I cant get a job and it's really depressing me.

Today I received a letter from a company I applied to for a job where I was vastly qualified telling me I didn't make the interview stage. It's the latest in a long line.

I've done everything I can. I'm doing a FAS work placement for experience only while on the dole. I've had my CV examined and redesigned by a friend who works in recruitment.

I just can't get work. The placement is casual hours and not very fulfilling so far, and there's only so much time you can spend on hobbies before you begin to suck the fun out of them.

    I'm bored, and restless.

I have a wonderful girlfriend with a successful career, she is very supporting and a family with who I am very close.

I don't want to emigrate for all the reasons above, but I just don't see any light down this tunnel.

I'm not even sure why I'm posting this here, maybe I just need to vent.

It's a sad fact but for every job on offer right now there's over 100 applicants. Getting rejected is not a reflection on you, the statistics just don't stack up well. Employers have to make very quick and harsh short-listing decisions because they cannot interview everyone who applies.

Have you considered doing voluntary work while you're unemployed? It can serve a number of purposes: it distinguishes you from other applicants (lots of qualified people out there), it gives you real-life experience you can use when you sit an interview, and it gives you a good feeling about yourself. It also gets you into contact with people, which you need.

    Be at peace,

    Z

Won't always be this way...long term it certainly won't be,remember that, would you go abroad? even short term doing something like teaching? would at least be experience and motivating?
