Jogging, where to start? Help

    Hi,

    Was just wondering if anyone can help me. My aim is to try and train for the Dublin Marathon. Even if i have to walk part of it.

    Anyyway, i've recently started jogging in the last couple of months. I'm up to 7 mile runs x 3 times a week. One very much uphill, one flat and one bit of both.

    I also do a long (28 mile) cycle outdoors x 1 day a week too.

    I want to increase my distance but feel i'm not quite bursting with energy.

    Can anyway set me up a plan or program for the next 13 weeks. Or even for the next 4/5 weeks to get me progressing.

    Any advice gratefuly recieved.

    You need to start building up your miles, and follow a proper programme, for example. A key part of this programme (or any training plan) is that sometimes you run more slowly, and sometimes you run shorter distances.

    There's a thread on here full of marathon novices aiming for Dublin, you could read over that and maybe join in.

    There's a 14 week "get you round the course" program on the DCM site here. It's fairly basic, but I used it for my first couple of marathons.
