After hours for real

    Just a question

But does anyone ever meet up after hours for real, as in finish work, or hanging around their house for the day, or finish looking after kids or college, or is a foreign traveller or what ever, and actually meet in a bar.
I have found it strange over the years, that people, like us, talk to each other (although I am new here) about all sorts of things, but never actually meet up out in the real world for a drink.
I know theres security issues, but these problems are easily over come.
The rules of engagement would be simple, pick a bar, five people is the minimum per group, and actually have a conversation.
    No hidden agends, no bull****.
My own idea on this would be, no one will do it. The reason is it would require an actual commitment of us to come out of our caves, into the light and say hello.
The truth is no one truly wants the commitment of even the smalliest encounter, its fine online where we can say what evers on our mind, then when we are bored, switch off. But to meet for real, that requires a greater set of skills, and possible judgements.
Maybe your small, big, fat thin, girl, guy, ugly, goodlooking, black, white, poor english, in a wheel chair, young or old, what ever, we dont have to worry about any of these things in here, but the other side of the coin is, their are no real friends in here either. Not until we actually sit down for real, look each other in the eye for real, and say hello, how was your day.
To quote a line in manys a bar 'Their are no strangers here, but friends who havent met yet'
So what do I perdict..... I have no doubt that your reading this, thinking about the hassle of having to go out of your way after work, meet strangers for an hour in a bar, take the risk of giving an hour of your life to the end goal of possible adding a real friend to your life or not, but my guess is, no one would meet.
For my own self, I have a group of mates, we've known each other since we were kids, and of late I have looking at my mates and noticed none of us has gone out of our way to meet other people/groups. Ever friday or saturday night, we meet up, stay in our group and talk away. We know each other too well i think, and sometimes, as I sit there in the bar, I look around and wonder what kinda life other people are leading, are they funny, or a pain in the arse. Are they working, or unemployed, what they like and dislike, could they be a good friend, or just someone to have a beer with.
Anyway, I am tired of online conversations. I'm stepping out into the light.

There was an after hours beers a few weeks ago. There was a big enough crowd at it. There's usually one every couple of months.

So, to answer your very long question, yes there is an after hours for real.

Ya some people are small, big, fat thin.......

And some people can't use the word 'their' in the right context. You did it twice in your post. That would put you in the 'poor english' category :P

    :D

That'd make a great sketch for a comedy show - forum users decide to meet up in real life over a few beers. Forum users meet up in pub & talk to each other on the forum via their laptops!

    Genius stuff, Lando!!

I met my fiance at an AH beers.
    Awesome stuff altogether.

Many people on this site have hooked up after organised events. Some have ended up married and have started families.

I + i = The same spelling. You can't spell a letter any other way. You can only change it's case.
