    Hi all,

I'm a mid-late 30s single female, living in East Cork and I'm going out of my mind with boredom on weekday evenings & at weekends. I'm not a couch potato, but I seem to find myself spending more and more time on my couch since I moved back to Cork a few years ago. Would love to meet like-minded people to go for a walk / drink / trip to the cinema / bite to eat every now & then.

    Anybody got any ideas?

Well at the weekends there's probably a few options. Depending on how much walking you were thinking of doing there's a Midleton hillwalking club. A quick google (I'm too lazy) should find it. IIRC they also have links to another group that do photo walks that wouldn't be as strenous as well.

During the week I can't think of much. I've been meaning to go along to the toastmasters club in McDaids (upstairs) every other Wednesday for ages. Beyond that you might be looking at the usual 'take a class' option when 'De Tec start up their evening courses in the autumn again. This year I'm hoping to have time to do the welding course myself, but they have a broad range of courses.

If you're willing to travel to the city, you could join us for a drink/outing sometime. Check out the July meetup thread. There's also this group. I haven't heard much about them in a while but afaik they do all sorts of outings.

Thanks Blitzkrieger. The other group doesn't seem to be active on-line any more - it looks like they got fairly big & that it's maintained offline now.

I'll take a look at your July post. I live in Midleton alright, but getting into town is no problem. I never really mind driving.

    Hi howareyoudoin',

I see you posted in the July meet up thread, just wanted to say if there is something you wanted to do feel free to suggest it in there. I know it may be a bit daunting suggesting things when you haven't met anyone but no need to be shy.

I'd be in the same age range as you.

There are a few of us in the boards group that are thirtysomethingish. If you want to meet up we do movies and such although they are usually not girly movies... I may need to start planning outings to chick flicks :D

We also usually meet for drinks on a regular basis.

I am in the same paradigm as previous posts. I am also in east cork and I have the urge to meet new people and socialise else-where than I have. So if there is anything happening soon, I would love too have a laugh.:)

I never took you for the chick-flick kinda girl. Don't tell anyone but I have been known to watch some in the past. :o:pac:

The Midleton Street Party is next Sunday Aug 1st. Might be good - especially if the weather is nice. And if it turns out to be really good, there's bank holiday Monday to recover!

Well Esteban Spicy Cloud, I'm going to the cinema on Weds evening at 7 with a few people from here as a start. It's the A-Team, so hopefully it'll at least be a bit of a laugh. Let me know if you're interested & I'll send you on whatever details I get from the others.

Hi, I am in my early 30s looking for a a few to meet up with for cinema, few drinks etc. Problem is Im not in east cork but Im easy access to Cork city centre. Fear is i met a social group recently who told me it was all ages and they were all 50+. Thought I was going to cry, stayed an hour then made my excuses. Good story for the grandkids tho!! If this group is still up an running and u are around your late 20s or 30s (honestly!) let me know

Hi there in the Cork forum I organise a load of nights out (at least one a month) which includes, drinking, cinema, bowling, pool etc...

The ages at the meetups typically range between 18 (only 1/2 people this age) and mid 30's so the average age is around 25 I would say (I am 27).

Every month I have a new thread to discuss meetup ideas (here is this months http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2056018544) and when an idea is decided on we vote on it.

Currently organising a beers night for the last week in September in Cork city, if you are interested please go here and vote in our poll. Cheers!

Anyone reading this is welcome to come along! NO AGE RESTRICTIONS APPLY! :)

There is a Cork group on www.meetup.com. Have only been to one event, but nice people, late 20s/early 30s, might be an idea. Lots of people in same boat.

Like MitziAils says there is always a boards meetup of some variety every month. The next one is planned for Sat night - assuming there is sufficient interest!! See the above link for details.

I'm from Midleton too so we are not ALL city slickers!!
