Help !please have a 2000 Ford Forcus ,that just dies when I'm driving!!.

Its been serviced recently and has a new battery.....whats happening.....when it happens speed monitor just goes blank and everything stops.
I do get the car started again ,but its happening more now and with three childs in the back seat, I'm really apprehensive about the safety of the car

    Can anyone please advise.

    Thanks

Some one here might be able to point you at a specific problem with that model.

Probably best to get an auto electrican to look at it. Shouldn't be too expensive. If you give your location some one here will point you on the correct direction...

This is a common problem in the focus! It happened to my sister and aunt. You have a fe options to get it fixed.
Bring it to a ford dealer and they'll fix it! It costs around 450 euro!
You can also have the part reconditioned! This costs around 250!
It worked for my aunt but it din't work for my sis and she had to go for the 450 euro option. In doing this ford fits new speed dial and your milage goes back down to zero!

Could be a coil pack problem, common enough to go on them.

Possibly the ignition switch failing? Does it ever die immediately when you release the key after starting?

It's a known issue with Ford. Have seen this happening fairly regularly on an 02 model as well. There's a huge thread about this somewhere on the net - some UK ford owners managed to get this some sort of settlement on this with Ford I believe. It costs a lot to fix this issue. Just Google.

You could try asking for help on ffoc.co.uk. Good parts of the forum are blocked off for members only - but even for the fee, its a great site with lots of info and good advice from focus entusiasts
