I just calculated it there as €1389 because the revenue website says its open market selling price is €4342 would this sound right to you? thanks again

Whatever it says on https://www.ros.ie/VRTEnquiryServlet/showVRT is pretty much what you are going to pay. The rate is based rate of emissions as a percentage of the open market selling price of the car, the lower the emissions the lower the rate. A Prius is tiny, Range Rover is huge.
