Came third in my first ISSF match with one of these. Trigger is a bit heavy for ISSF, But one can get used to it. Very crisp though.
I can only say great things about them.

OK lads I'm convinced :D Called dealer and have purchased :D

OK I'm a bit late so but I'll pipe in anyway...

I bought one a few weeks ago and I love it. Admittedly it was my first handgun so I have not shot that many others, but I did get to compare it to a lot of others in the shops (very wide choice since I'm in the States!)

For me, there was no contest...it's main competitor is the Ruger Mark III but I found the Buck Mark more pointable, better grip angle etc. Also even the basic camper model felt heavier to me than the Ruger, and there are some very heavy Buck Marks out there - which model did you get?

I'm curious to know how hard they are to license back home though...? Is it like licensing a centrefire pistol before the ban? Or easier than that?

Had a Ruger MK III and sold it  Apart from they are a biatch to strip I loved it.

Heard good things about Buckmark and it feels nice in the hand and better balanced than the MK III

To licence you're looking at range/club membership, monitored alarm, gun safe at a minimum

This was left in to be sold by a lad who was refused a licence only because he wasn't in an authorised club/range, which is fair enough IMO. His loss will be my gain ................ hopefully. Hopefully licence won't prove to be a problem:o

Will check if he has, can get another ;)

He's looking for €500 but we're still discussing that ;)

Hopefully :D Probably heading mainly down ISSF route though  Member of NTSA now :)

    Kinda miss it tbh.

    Kinda miss it tbh.

    I would love a .22lr pistol prob a hamerelli

The hoops i would have to go through to get more restricted stuff is not feasible at the mo.

It's in my 5 year plan though.

I should have me new house built by then! :D

Gun room mass concrete walls and ceiling alarmed, 6/8 point locking door and safe inside for rifles and a separate safes for bolts/slides!

Although a .22lr conversion for my Glock interests me for the craic if nothing else!

    Best of Luck!!

I bought one a few months back paid 400 for it. Have a look here http://rimfirecentral.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=17

For a cheap first pistol, yup, nice.

Don't ever shoot a Walther SSP though, or you'll be selling the Browning in the morning along with the dog to pay for a new SSP.

It is not a restricted firearm if you limit the magazines to 5 rounds - only really a consideration if it will put you in the next and more expensive bracket for security

it will also compete quite well at NASRPC stuff aswell

is on my own list also but trying to have only one licese app in the system at a time

There is one mag with it, which is standard afaik and it has been restricted to 5

Would I need more mags for ISSF & NASRPC comps?

My current security is adequate according to Guidelines..................unless Super decides otherwise:o

Excellent ! Not a member of a NASRPC range so are there many "open" shoots?

Not sure about ISSF comps but to compete in all NASRPC smallbore pistol disciplines you would need three mags (so best to have 4 in case you drop one)
but you could get started with two.

All NASRPC Competitions are open competitions unless stated otherwise.

Obviously the host range has final say on who can use their facilities but i do not know of that having ever been a problem.

Not sure about NASRPC (ask B'man about those), but not for ISSF, no, one mag is fine. Though you might want to have a spare in case it ever breaks, obviously.

    Lots of them in Rathdrum...

(edit: Next time I read to the end before replying :D )

I have a glock 9mm that i have been refused a licence for:mad: ( its in storage I have appealed it and i am waiting for it to come up but i dont know is it worth the hassle) Does anyone know Would any gun dealer in the south be willing to take it as part exchange for a browning buckmark?or have any opinions what i should do?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,096 ✭✭✭bunny shooter

North may be your only option to sell a 9mm. Maybe a dealer there would do a deal with you?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 299 ✭✭ROSSKI

The problem is the gun is in storage in a gun dealers so how do i go about getting the gun up to the dealer in the north. As i said i am appealing this to the district court - Does this mean i would be allowed to have the gun until the case is heard or because i was refused i wouldnt be entitled to get it back??

But... You're not using it now, are you? ;)

Nothing particularly wrong with the Buckmark, but they do have a few drawbacks and I've met a couple of guys who didn't get on with them at all to the extent that they got rid of them as quickly as possible :(

The drawbacks are: the trigger is pretty poor with no adjustment and can in some cases be quite gritty. Kryten's was particularly crisp, but I suspect that he put in a bit of work on it to make it so. I've fired both the rifle and pistol and just didn't like the trigger; it curved far too much meaning you had excessive contact with the finger and that doesn't help with consistency at all. I also found it gritty and inconsistent.

The second problem is only one if you're intending to shoot single handed. There is only one manufacturer that makes a grip for it (Nill) and they are very expensive indeed. If I'm not mistaken, they cost in and around €200.

If I hadn't been away, I would have recommended the Hammerli X-Esse Sport which would cost (with the grip) new, less than the Buckmark plus grip .

    Oh well...

Need ideas, links diagrams etc on how to restrict magazines to 5 shots please

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 314 ✭✭Kryten

Hi Bunny, Dont tell me you are getting grief about magazines!!!! Can be restricted without too much hassle, but would need to see the magazine in person.

I got one with pistol and it's been 'restricted' with what looks like "liquid" metal of some description within the magazine but I wanna get more so will have to restrict them too as my licence is an unrestricted one

Just thought someone here must have done it too ;)
