No not Ireland! There is an island of thrash and **** that is the size of Texas floating around the Pacific Ocean. If you stood on it you would drown due to the sheer amount of rubbish around.

I never heard of it before now. WTF???

I don't think he realizes that most of the patch consists of tiny particles of plastic.

Heard them talking about it on QI.
There's also some talk of harvesting the rubbish and burning it to create power!

There would be no way to swim up through or go around it. It isn't solid land.

Of course you could swim through it. Most of it is so small it's barely visible to the naked eye.

    Hehe, not Ireland.

The foreigner residing among you must be treated as your native-born. Love them as yourself, for you were foreigners in Egypt. I am the LORD your God.

When you read the Wiki piece, it's really not half as cool as "giant island of rubbish" would lead you to believe.

The size of Texas or bigger. How is that not impressive?

    Does it have a flag?

Twice the size of Texas apparently:

or, to put it in more realistic terms, twice as big as the meteor in Armageddon.

Because it's invisible to the naked eye!! When I read "giant island of rubbish" I expect to be able to climb to the top and plant a flag claiming it in my name. Or, at the very least see the bloody thing!

All the proof you need is in your own linked piece.
