No really, if the sun, the top gear website and some blog sites are to be believed.

I wonder will they recreate the vanilla sky scene in the reasonably priced car?

Once its not a scientology fest, I'll also enjoy perving @ Cameron Diaz :D

Its my little protest, cos the whole thing will be unbearable. They won't 'get it' and will just smile a lot as JC embarrasses himself. And then Cruise will somehow drive the fastest lap ever with the help of CGI

I would not be surprised if Cruise drives the fastest time. He is known for owning very fast cars, so he surely has more experience than most "stars" that sit in the reasonably priced car.

In the new car 'mabye', however other stars have included Eric Bana, JK, and Jay Leno, people who are known for being some of the biggest petrol heads.
I personally think he'll just end up irritating everyone so much they kill him, or just don't record his lap time.

The SIARPC section always is though, so nothing new there. That whole section should be done away with, the show can do without it. Surely there is something else that could be a better time-filler for that section?

"Tom Cruise Killed on Top Gear in Kia" would be a hell of a headline.

    God I hate Tom Cruise.

    I'm not watching this bit!

James May in the Veyron was nice, I'm nerdy enough to have wished to have seen the whole thing unedited though.

Was good. Tom at the top :D

    That was brilliant tbh.

Don't believe Cruise's time though, the lap actually looked quite slow.

    Quite ordinary and unremarkable pair

The best SIARPC in a long time, possibly ever. A great show tonight, really really was enjoyable to watch.

    Cameron Diaz is a Goddess.
    Ayrton Senna was a God.

    That is all.

Clarkson really does have the best job in the world. Cameron Diaz, Aston Martin, tyre smoke, no more needs to be said.

cruise & diaz come second and first mmmmmmmm bit hollywood (if you excuse the pun)

Most of the lads here knew he'd set a good time. Was his time the same as Rubens last week? Some accomplishment if so.

    Same time, different car.

This Cee apostrophe D seems quite a bit faster than the other cars they used.

One of the better episodes of the last few years, apart from the specials of course.

I really enjoyed it tonight. The Veyron test was great, but the Senna 'special' was just brilliant.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,984 ✭✭✭Venom

The Veyron sequence was cool, Hammond's snow race and the Senna section were grand but the SIARPC bit bugged me. Clarkson seemed very ass kissy towards Cruise & Diaz and them coming 1st and 2nd seemed to predictable an outcome. Cruise's lap more so due to the amount of time he was on the grass and the 2 wheel finish which I would of though would have cost him seconds for the lap!

Good point, I forgot about that :)

Seems more positive thoughts than negative so far, I wonder have they realised that there were no stupid challenges, not much (if any) scrpting, and yet it was a show far superior to most in recent months/years.

Keep it simple, & keep if real (have I just said keep it real?). The F1 section I found gripping to watch, loved how it was releated to motoring, and not the usual "how many golf players can you fit in a caravan thats being towed upside down by an elephant holding a banana" type short..

Lewis in Ayrtons car, must have been an absoloutly surreal experience. But the juxta-positioning of the laugh/banter of the guests, right beside a very sombre tribute to a past hero, I felt that worked very well.

That show was, dare I say .... Epic !

Could be that the previous ones were rubbish :D

    Diaz MMMMmmmmmmm

The Senna piece was brialliant, the rest was just fluff.

They can really pull it out of the bag when they want to do a serious piece.
I would have happily watched a full hour on Senna.

Thats very true, I've seen Clarkson on occasion being serious/sombre - he's really good at being serious when he wants.

+1 again on the Senna part, it was goose-bumpy & could have happily watched a lot more of it. Defiitely going to see that movie in the cinema when it's out. Also the action they showed back then was jaw dropping when compared to F1 today. I love F1 prob more than any sport, but my god that was the golden age - and I missed out!

Clarkson's great in documentary-mode. The Senna bit was awesome.
TC wasn't as crazy as I hoped he'd be, and Jeremy didn't take the piss at all :(
    Solid episode though.

    Damn right.

Apart from the news which was bollocks as always, this was actually a pretty good episode, if not the best they've had in a number of series. Snow and cars often make for great visuals, the cheese and onion Porsche was a bit of daft and thankfully the end of Hammond's contribution to the episode, the Veryon piece was great and I was glad Slow was doing it. Hopefully this will shut Jeremy up about the green movement destroying the car industry or some such nonsense. The SIARPC thing felt slightly awkward in parts and was a bit of a love in, but who cares? The Senna piece was very well done.

Don't think there is enough fast times on the SIARPC to know how fast it is.

Sure we will see JK on soon to smash it

I was fully expecting Tom to jump up and down on the couch Oprah style.

An oxymoron if ever I heard one.

Yeah, good episode alright, but when are we going to see a decent road test again? (Similar (and reasonable) Car V Car)?

The Veron segment was a best, but it was slightly spoiled due to the fact that the current Top Gear mag has had James max speed plastered on the front cover for the last two weeks.

I wonder how much the appearance of Cruise and Diaz will helped the box office numbers for Knight and Day?

Great episode. The Senna part was class. Forgot how talented he really was and how ruthless :)

That was one of my favourite episodes of all time.

    1. New Veyron gets the fastest lap
    2. We get to look at Diaz - I never thought she was THAT attractive. My God she looked hotter tonight than she ever has IMO.
    3. One of the best tributes to Senna I have ever watched.

    Epic.

Don't believe Cruise's time though, the lap actually looked quite slow.

Same here. Was obviously slower, he was way off the racing line most of the time and that two wheeled corner at the end probably knock a second or two off I think. Well dodgy.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,234 ✭✭✭Ardennes1944

i didnt think diaz looked that nice atal tbh. i mean...i would lyk...but she's nothin special just ditzy. but yeah i enjoyed this episode more than any other one of late....still wont stop watchin top gear no matter what though

maybe that was one of the conditions of him going on the show:cool:

"give me a fast time and i'll make an appearance"

anyway who cares both cruise & diaz were great guests...now how can they top that.........Russell Crowe maybe??

Loved the power lap with the Veyron Super Sport.

One of the best shows for sure.

You could see he arrived into the hammerhead fast and kept the speed up through the corner. Quite smooth. Barrichello in the previous show was the perfect example of smooth driving which looked very slow.

His two wheels around the final corner were flat out, most people brake and take the corner normally so I can see him saving half a second there. I'm inclined to think the time was probably legitimate.

Don't like Tom Cruise... but it was a pretty good episode!!:) Funny!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 655 ✭✭✭minotour

Anyone else find it strange they didnt show in car footage when TC went up on two wheels? For the most part the incar footage is dull, surely when something exciting happens they should include it.

I bet he crapped his pants and prevented them from showing it plus it didnt look that fast at all, CD's on the other hand did appear rather quick.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,765 ✭✭✭sxt

Here is the car going on two wheels! Does anybody know if it is possible to watch the full show anywhere?
