Hi guys, two of us landing in Bangkok on 25 Dec, been checking hotels and getting very high prices, thought Thailand had the cheapest yet good quality hotels?

    Any recommendations out there, cheers....

Navalai River Resort had good online deals when I went. Worked out at €25 each per night, lovely rooms. It's near, but thankfully a few minutes walk from the backpacker area. Decent restaurants and bars nearby. It's right in front of a river bus and 20 pleasant minutes' walk to the Grand Palace and Wat Pho.

Christmas is peak holiday time in Bangkok so hotel prices are between two and three times normal. You'll still get a decent hotel for under €50 but the choice will be limited and you won't get any real bargains.

    Have a search here
