    Hi guys,
Looking to go to amsterdam for the first time in october for weekend. Does anyone know any good hotels to stay in, thats not too far from everything? Also maybe the best website etc to book it from?

    Thanks

The Bulldog hostel near the RLD is pretty good place to stay (theres a few so make sure u get the RLD one)

or for somewhere a bit more chilled out check the bridge hotel, near rembrant square.. pretty cheap and very quiet (bit of a trek to RLD though so might not be ideal for your needs, if youre intent on partying etc- all main pubs etc are clustered around RLD)

I always use booking.com and think they're usually the cheapest around. You don't pay a deposit with them and can generally cancel without penalty up to two days before arrival. So if you find a better deal elsewhere, you can easily change. Plus, if they go bust like 1800hotels.com did, at least you lose nothing.

If you dont have too tight a budget, Hotel Estherea is gorgeous!! Nice smallish hotel but beautifull decorated and free tea/coffee/hot choc and munchies in the lobby! Had no complaints about this hotel. Right on the canal and 5 minutes walk around to Dam Square. We walked everywhere comfortably! Think it cost us approx 370 for 3 nights between us which was great value for the hotel!

    Defo recommend!

I gave up on 2* hotels in Amsterdam. Most had stairs so steep they'd take your breath away - and with prices almost as high. So, tried Priceline "name your own price" site and ended up with the 4-star NH Hotel Amsterdam Centre, at just under €60 total per night, for a double room without breakfast.
