Need advice on PreAmp + Amplifier + Speakers

    Phono/ Record Player Question…

I have my Record Player (Technics SL-1200 MK2) hooked up to a mini hi-fi. It served its purpose for 5 years but now I want to buy a proper setup. When I say proper, I don’t have 3 thousand to spend. I’d like a relatively decent system and I’m willing to fork out 500 – 1000 euro.

What exactly do I need, excluding the Record Player of course? I’m guessing 3 components?

    - PreAmp
    - Amplifier/ A/V Receiver
    - Speakers

Whatever I buy I would like to be able to hook up my TV + POPCORN HOUR MOVIE PLAYER + IPOD at least…

Any recommendations on kit/ brand to buy? what to avoid & where to buy (online or from a store).

Been doing a lot of reading and I'm so confused... and every time i go to the store they tell me something different than the last guy. Badly need help. TIA

You don't need a pre-amp unless you're planning on using a power amp. Aassuming the integrated amp (pre +power all in one box) you get doesn't have a phono stage then you need a phono-amp to boost the signal from the turntable. Of course if you get an amp with a built in phono stage then you ust need it and speakers.
Given your budget you should check richer sounds or.... for secondhand or demo stuff try Cloney audio in Blackrock and www.kronosav.co.uk in Dungannon.
