Hi guys,

This will be a big purchase for me so looking for as much advice/input as possible:

I'm planning on buying a 320d coupe either in the next few months (if the right one/spec comes along) or early next year.

Is there much of a benefit to waiting until waiting until the new year to buy an 07/08 car? Will the prices have changed much between now and say next march? I'm not in any rush to buy and want something nice that I can hang onto for around 5 years.

I'm also considering buying from the UK as they seem to be a lot cheaper over there. Is there anything I should be aware of. Would the extra cost in buying an 08 be worth it for the savings over the 5 years I plan on keeping the car?

I'm hoping to have about 23-25k to spend including VRT. I've worked out the VRT as follows:

2007 320d SE - €3664
2007 320d M Sport - €4268
2008 320d SE - €4189
2008 320d M Sport - €5051

Tax rates would be €614 per year for the 07 and €156 for the 08.

I figure this leaves me with about £14-16k sterling to spend on the car and I've seen some for around this price on pistonheads. Or if the right deal came up on an irish car I'd buy here.

That last one is exactly the kind of e92 I'm after (mainly m sport with leather and love the le mans blue, bmw prof radio is nice addition too). So just looking for any general input on the purchase. I want to make sure I get the right car and that it's something I wont want to sell any time soon.

What are my other options in this price bracket? Looking for a diesel (2 litre for insurance reasons) with good looks and decent performance. I'm aware of the Octavia VRS, A4, S40 etc but is there any others I'm overlooking?
