    Hello,
I lost the keys to my car last night and the second key i have opens the door and switched on the ignition first time but then it went off after 1/2 secs. Now it doesnt switch the ignition on at all.
Do these need to be reprogrammed?

    Thanks for looking

The second key might not be coded for the immobiliser. You can get a key cut and code it to the alarm yourself - alot of ppl do this but dont get the immobiliser coded as it costs money. Means you have a spare in case you lock the original in the car. The dealer (or someone with vag-com) is needed to code the key to the immobliser - costs around 80 quid (coding) I think from the dealer.

    Try this first:
Turn on and off the ignition 10 times (On the 10th time try and start the car). This happened to me before and it worked.
