Cure for Slice

I'm having trouble at the moment with a driving slice and it's really affecting my game.

I normally drive it straight down the middle with a slight draw but for the past couple of weeks my drives have been starting straight and then spinning badly to the right. I haven't got a clue why this is happening but it feels like I'm falling off the drive - or that my hips are turing ahead of my downswing.

Somebody told me to try and lock my right knee to stop my torso racing ahead of my arms but it's not really working.

Does anyone have any other tips for curing this type of slice? I'm almost 100% certain my setup is fine and that it's a swing issue.

When you do this are you trying to correct it by aiming more to the left to counter act the slice ?

No - I'm aware that this will worsen the slice. What I'm trying to do is ensure that the I perform proper a proper swing and rotate my hips properly.

swing normally, your hips will have to follow. If you feel your swing hasnt changed it can only be a few things but impossible to say without seeing your swing but sounds like ball could be further back in your stance hence catching it earlier and your not at proper impact position so your coming across it.

As will be advised time and time again maybe seek a pro's advice and get a lesson

try bringing the club inside on the takeaway and aim more to the right.

Thanks for the advice - to be honest I'm normally very solid off the tee and I've never had a lesson. I just can't figure out why the slice all of a sudden - very frustrating!

well as I have said if you feel your swing is relatively unchanged and feels the same its simply set-up , I would just check before you hit the ball is correctly in stance, shoulders feet and club remain square to the target. I mean it could simply be your club face slightly open than normal

Go to the range and spend an hour hitting balls you will sort it handy, just think about what it is you do when you hit good ones

Could be the simplest of things. If the rest of your shots are going straight (3 wood and irons) then it's probably not your swing.
Double check to see if the clubface is slightly open at address. Just pay attention to that. It could very well be the reason.

    +1

I developed a slice with the driver for a couple of weeks in june. Got to the range and realized was coming over the top (out to in)

Took the club back lower and more in to out and got it cured.

Thanks all - looks like a big bucket of balls at the range is called for!

If your mate is right and it is to do with with your knee try hitting balls on the toes of your right foot (assuming your a righty)
This will stop you straightening your right knee which could be leading to you coming over the top which would explain the slice
