I was wondering if anyone here had any experience in recycling waster water?

Background: Industrial laundry uses 4000m3 of water per year. Almost all of this water is discharged after use which is a waste of both heat and water.

Are the any systems that I could look at that would use the waste water to preheat fresh water coming in. Alternatively, clean and reuse the waste water. I did come across systems on line in the USA and Japan (Japan apparently recycles as much as 80% of industrial waste water) but wanted to know if there are any suppliers/experts a bit closer to home.

Am also wondering on the viability of such systems on such a relatively small scale.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

When researching what I wanted in the house I had a look at:

    http://www.energysuperstore.ie/waste.php

Sounded great at the time, but never got quotes on it. No affiliation with the company, but they were pleasant to deal with when inquiring about their products, also prompt with quotes.

The type of system will depend on what condtion the water will be in after the process. i.e what temperature and condition.

Does your laundry vent a lot of waste heat as well, do you have a cooling requirment or is their a business nearby that has a cooling requirement, cold store etc??

A simple plate heat exchanger could be used to preheat water entering the laundry.
