Hi all,
First post here but if you're looking for a portable hard drive this ended up being very cheap. Order Grand Total: EUR 63,89 delivered from Amazon.co.uk

Original bargain was £49.99 for a portable hard drive, that is neither cheaper nor the same :rolleyes:

It is very cheap but one is a 2.5" portable, the 1TB one is a desktop, great value though.

That one aint USB powered is it? Needs its own bloomin plug I think?

You're right it does need external power.

I got one of the Seagtae 500GB Drives in PC World about two months ago for about €70. Not sure if it is still there for that price but it might be no harm popping in if you are passing and fancy not having to wait for the amazon delivery.

i have 1 x 1.5tb hard drive and 1 x 500g tb making 2 tb in total and i am using about 1.6tb at the moment hd stuff takes up way more room than regular files

Exactly, a 720p HD rip of a tv show (42 minutes +) is around 1.10GB

22 episode season x 1.10GB = 24.2GB

Also, a single 120 minute 1080p movie could be anywhere around 25GB.

I bought the 1TB WD drive and it is in fact 3.5inch requiring external power supply. It was dispatched on the 20th and arrived on the 21st in Galway.
I think Amazon is sending some stuff from within Ireland now because they send it with AnPost. Same thing happened with a previous order I had which also only took one day to arrive even though Amazon said the delivery day was supposed to be 3 days later in both cases.

Presumably with either of these drives I can take the actual drive out of the casing and pop it into my PC as a slave drive - had an accident with a portable about a month ago and would prefer to afford the disk more protection from my clumsiness!

Ok, so technically this question is for another forum, but what the difference between the OP's recommendation for 63 or this one for £48 and free delivery?

It looks like your only main difference is jacko is plastered all over one and not the other. Both hard drives definately do not require power supplys its powered by USB, The other seagate 1TB one that another poster mentioned is not portable as it requires power cable to use.

The samsung one that jacko is on, on its own on amazon is around £60 and the jackson one on play is €68.50 so it does look like a good deal.
