For a young lad to get insurance for under a grand my situation is Im 20 years old full license 2 and half years 2 years ncb no points still driving daily just not my own car. I cant seem to get insurance for under a grand even on stuff like clios and polo's best Ive got so far is 1200 off Quinn on a 306 but I dont want to go with them for obvious reasons.Everybody else is around the 2g mark

    Any Ideas

Only reason I want to do this is because I dont want to lose my ncb I think they expire after 2 years or something and ill have to start again

Im 21 in April next year will I better off waiting till then ?

Try insure.ie and britton insurance. Ring them. No online quotes crap. You may be able to get it for close to a grand as you have 2years ncb.

Why not go with Quinn ? It's unlikely they will fold over the next 12 months.

Surely you have named driver experience and not NCB seeing that this is going to be your first car?

Have you been ringing around or just using online quoting systems? I found online quoting systems to be significantly more expensive than when i talked to brokers/insurance companies on the phone. All because i was under 25.

And lastly, i take it you don't have a car yet? I'd chose a car first, and try get quotes with that rather than just picking one car over another because a quote was marginally cheaper.

You could try doing some of those advanced driving courses.

They pay for themselves in the long run.

I don't think the Government would let them fold, there would be chaos on Irish roads as most of the country would be driving uninsured.

It happened a number of years with Carole Nash when their underwriters Independant Insurance folded. About 30% of the bikes on the road were technically not covered and many kept on riding their bikes on their issued "policies", Gardai at the time did not seem to be too bothered about it.

Its my second car Sold my last one and just didnt bother to replace it at the time as I had a few bills to pay off etc

Ive havent rang around yet going to do it nearer the time using online quotes as a ball park

Im not been fussy about the car tho once it runs and has nct/can pass nct

I went with quinn as they were the cheapest, 864 for myself and both parents as named drivers on a 1.9 diesel.....and that was with 2 years named driving experience, keep the value of the car above 2500 for quotes as cheap cars are higher insurance risks and your nominated value is irrelevant unless you undervalue your car...

Id be more concerned about the fact that they are just a horrible company to deal with tbh. I dont think they will fold, but I do steer clear of them as Ive heard enough horror stories from others, as well as my own experiences while trying to get quotes, to know I dont particularly want to be dealing with them in the event of me having an accident...
