Electric Golf Trolly Decision

Guys, hoping you can help. My Mocad of over 4 years has finally packed it in, battery now lasts about 12 holes before running out of gas, and now the switch has given up. I got quoted 115 for a new battery (75) and switch unit (40), so i'm thinking, what the heck lets purchase a new trolly.

I have a budget of 300 and i've narrowed it down to 2:
The Golfmotion X2 and the GoKart: http://www.golfmotion.ie/shop/golfmotion-trolleys/golfmotion-x2-trolley/

    http://www.gokart.ie/

I would appreciate some advice or recommendations on either, especially from those who use either one. Alot of people on the forum use the Powakaddy or the Golf Glider, which are both out of my price range.

    Cheers Lads.

haven't used one myself but i have never heard a bad work about the Gokarts...outstanding aftersales service too i hear...

I second the super after sales service on the Go-kart.
Have it 4-5 months now and going strong - no complaints

I seem to remember Kevin M being on here saying he was going to test drive one for a review or something but maybe I'm imagining it !!

I did indeed review it for my blog, and it was a neat piece of kit. Packs up easily, is light and well balanced. And the service guys were as good as is widely reported. Don't think you'll have any problems there.

How were you able to rate the Service if you were only trying out a kart for a review? Unless it broke in the time you had it, in which case....?

True GreeBo, lads had ye early teething problems with the gokart ? Is it stable and does the bag stay in place, I have a powakaddy cart bag and it did twist alot when using the mocad. I've only seen the gokart on the website and i'd hope its solid, but would like some opinion on this.

    Smart arse comes to mind!

I called them to say I had problems with the wheels (I didn't, but wanted to see what would happen). They talked me through the possible problems and solutions and when I said they didn't work, they sent me two new wheels - arrived 48 hours later.

I can +1 the GoKart also.
The bag certainly doesn't move on mine because the bungee cord on the bottom has a right grip on it.
Folding/assemble is simple. Switch and speed control is beautifully simple. Haven't had it all that long but has managed 27 holes on the 18 hole battery easily and I played 36 holes scratch cup with just 30 mins top up charge in-between. I was somewhat careful that day and shut it off the odd time but it's simple to push anyway without the power.

It's my first electric trolley so can't offer any comparison but I'm very happy with mine so far.

Can you not just carry you bag? It's not as bad as people think!!!

Cheers for the responses guys. Nothing on the golf motion yet, but maybe its not as popular.
Kevin I just read your review on your blog site, very informative. Good stuff.

Currently using a gokart and its great:D 18 hole bat has managed 36 holes no probs. Looks great (imo) and has a handy transport bag to keep eveything neat and tidy.

After sales is great too, had a minor prob with the charger and they had no probs sending out a replacment

If I had to pick one slightly negative thing! it would be tht the bag doesnt sit as upright as other elec trolleys ( but the angle diff is only ever so slight)

All in all a great bit a kit.

Probably a good reason for that!!

Tons of good reviews for the Gokart (and not just on boards.ie)....what are you waiting for?

On the after sales service - they sent me out the wrong colour cart.
I didn't really care that much to be honest but I rang anyway.
Well actually I emailed and they rang me back within a half hour.
The offered me a new one and they would collect etc or a free accessory from the shop which I took and got within a few days.
So yes service is top notch - which makes a change :D

I bought a GolfMotion a couple of weeks and am delighted with it.

I had a Pulsar, but it's ten times better - 36 hole battery, easy to assemble/disassemble, light and has a powerful motor.

I bought it in a small golf shop in Waterford and the guy in there had sold 700-odd of them.

    I'm very happy with it

Have a gokart 6 weeks. My first electric trolly.

Controls are simple to operate, it assembles easily, fold away easily, has made it up the steepest of hills. I'd have no problem recommending it.

Carry case is a good addition.

Where did you get it? Can you only buy them online?

Just purchased the gokart, anyone want a €5 voucher through the breeding programme, send me a pm with your name and address if you already have a go kart

I think its a valid question, especially when you review doesnt seem to mention that you had personal experience of the service?

"A very useful FAQ section can be found here: http://www.gokart.ie/the-go-kart/faq/ and the feedback I’ve heard on customer service is excellent."

Just looking at buying one off the website..How's your one still going?Any downsides?
Should I buy 18 or 36 hole battery? I'd normally get out once a week, twice if lucky, and my home course is a bit hilly...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 262 ✭✭Irishvillian

Ican get 36 holes with my Gokart on an 18 hole battery no problem

18 hole battery is the way to go, easily get 36 holes.

Best bit of golf gear I ever bought... and I've bought a lot!!

No nonsense site, they even say themselves that 18hole battery is enough for the vast majority of golfers so its not like they're trying to upsell to the 36hole battery.

Would definitely recommend it without hesitation

Does anyone have the gokart automatic?

Its the one where you just touch the handle and it keeps to your walking pace.

    http://www.gokart.ie/shop/gokart-trolleys/gokart-automatic-golf-trolley.html

Would like to know if this is a better option over the standard one and has anyone had any issues with it.

    Thanks..

I played last weekend with a lad who borrowed his dads Electric Cart
It had an automatic setting on it and we had great crack switching it on in the middle of his back swing and watching him leg it down the fairway after his trolley!
