It's been years since I was in Dublin in Summer and want to visit this summer for a weekend, maybe in August. Where would be a great place to go to spend a sunny afternoon? Any ideas would be welcome, parks, sights, couple of pints, beach maybe. Suggestions should not include just going into the city centre and sit farting in Stephen's Green.

If the weather is nice you could try the beer garden in Noctors!

You should be asking where to spend a rainy day it's a bit of a risk assuming it's going to be sunny.

    sunny afternoon?

Sorry, It's July. Our summer ended 2 weeks ago. Just this grey rainy shíte until the kids are back in school and we get a bit of sun just to spite them.

Noctors eh? Where's that? I don't know any places in Dublin now. I left 20 years ago and only come back at Chrimbo and that's spent doing a quick xmas run into town on the 24th, suck down a few in Fagan's on the way home....at least they have a decent smoking area out back, then home. The next few days are just really dossing around locally in Drumcondra but it's always so miserable that you just stay watching telly, drinking cans and eating leftovers. The local pub is a slum but I go for a few anyway.

Beer garden sounds nice if I could have a ciggy and a frosty pils and gawk at some nice ladies.

This may not be your cup of tea, but about 15 years ago I enjoyed a visit to a transport museum in Howth.
