We have a friend, Irish, who cares for a small colony of ferals, including of course, kittens.

She spends a small fortune on their food; warm milk in winter etc.

We spent a long while trying to get her to get then spayed etc; she said the local free neuterings scheme had ended.

So we made many, many phone calls, as we know the local rescue groups. Begged for help for her.....Lined up the loan of humane traps, and were given a total of four free ops for her cats.... Gave her all the numbers etc..

We saw her yesterday for the first time since then.

Had she done anything? No way. Not a thing.

Her two beautiful wee dogs are not fixed either..

Always the choice is up to them of course, but it can be very frustrating indeed, can't it? So much help out there if they will only stir themselves

part of it is that cats are not worth it of course, but that does not apply to the dogs.

How many cats is it? Maybe she thought that it would not be worth neutering four, when there are others that would still be having kittens. I don't know . . . it'd be good if she at least could get a few females neutered.

But at least she is taking good care of the cats, she's doing a lot for them.

She just didn't get round to it, she said.. she knows they need sorting...

Sje worries about them etc; but...

There is a huge local problem with ferals; one colony that was being dealt with via the TNR scheme had over 70....

The kittens born late last year will be breeding now of course.
