i do not use a mac , but my father does and he is having huge problems with his emails.

i have very little knowledge of macs so i will need alot of help finding my bearings

the emails are not being sent at all , just remain in the outbox

when he goes to quit it says ''a network operation in progress. do you still want to quit?''

this gives me the impression that there is a huge email being sent/recieved
    but i deleted all drafts

on the bottom left of the screen it says ''eircom@ sending mail data''

and on the right it says'' there are no pending schedules''

please help as it is his company email and very important :)

Lord knows but Outlook Express for Mac is years old, it's OS Classic old!!!!

if his mail is urgent then I suggest he tries using the webmail of his e mail provider in the short term to send.

MS Outlook hasn't been supported on Mac for about 8 years now so even the newest version is ancient and runs only on a Mac that either runs Classic as it's OS or as a dual booth with OS X on some of the earlier versions.

If he is using OS X then he should be using Mail which should be pre installed otherwise he is stuck with Eircom's site, no matter how horrible it may be. How was he coping with mail until now, this issue has hardly just come up today?

he is running os x but im not sure about anything else. i know that he copied over all the files from a very very old mac ( it had the multicolour mac symbol) and he has 2 desktops. it was working fine until about a week ago when he could not receive or send emails and he asked me about it this morning.

its just after fixing itself ( i cant take praise because all i did was delete everything) and seems to be sending emails again.

if it breaks again im gonna look for that osx mail and set it up for him.

thanks for the advice , i might be back to this thread again :)

Glad it's all sorted and it's good that you know where to find some help if need be :) OS X has had Mail included since it was rolled out years ago; look for the wee stamp icon in your dock.
