PhD Funding! Can it be done?

Hi everyone, I have a question and would be very grateful if someone could shed some light on it for me

I'm about to start a PhD in college in September. I have been told that I will receive funding for 3 years however this funding will only be 8,000 a year.

I was wondering if anyone knows, would I be entitled to a grant or assistance throughout the PhD, as I will be struggling to survive on what I will be getting. I live at home so wont be able to add that in, however I do pay rent at home and I have a loan payment each week.

I have looked on the internet but find it quite confusing.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,

    popopcorn
