Anyone have recommendations for venues in South Dublin or just outside.

We have picked Citywest but feel overcharged so looking again for venues. Would appreciate some feedback.

Number of guests will be good to know - a lot of places have min and max numbers

    Hi

We are booking the Westgrove for this December. Holding a civil ceremony for about 100 and then having the cigar bar for drinks reception and suite off garden terrace for the meal. Can you let us know any helpful tips information to running this wedding day. What did you do entertainment wise before meal, we would have about 2 hours before the meal. Any recommendations on bands etc appreciated. Was banquet room dont up nice im big into candles so going with the candleabra's for tables.

    Many Thanks
    Kind REgards

We had 135 people and a civil ceremony there also:D, it was fab, i would say tho get your photographer to look at the room first as I wanted the curtains pulled for a more cosy romantic feel but the photos of the ceremony werent the best as the photographers flash wasn't great but he wasn't great in general:(

We had the pianist there for the drinks reception and he was lovely, you can get his number from Elaine in the westgrove. Got some nice pics at the piano to:)

The room looked amazing, we had tall vases with lilies and tealights around them on each table we also had fairy lights around the pillars in the reception room and they looked so lovely, really finished it off. The service was the best i've ever seen at a wedding, i'm not just saying that it really was amazing, everyone comented on the staff.

We went to see alot of bands as my OH is in a band and very paticular about the music so we got a band called a Few Good men, they were brilliant, they do have a DJ service also but I wanted to do the music for that myself so I paid the band to leave the PA set up till 2am and connected my laptop with playlist to it and it was perfect( just becareful and make sure you keep an eye on timing, pm me if you want about that).

The hotel recommended we leave some of the evening food for the residents bar and it was the best thing we could have done, i'd say whatever evening food your having split in half and get them to serve sambo and cake in the residents bar otherwise it will go to waste.

The hotel was amazing tho, couldnt have asked for much more, good luck with your wedding, i hope you have as an amazing day as i did.

Thanks a mill for info girl. I'm afraid i dont know how to mail you privately only as reply to thread. Did you pay extra for twinkle lights around pillars or where part of a package. We thinking of taking the lavender package but changing the arrival wine for guests to mulled wine as its a december wedding if Elaine is ok with that. Our budget wont stretch to evening food too but thought if they are getting a 5 course meal should be okay. Do you think we really need some evening food, not asking extra people to evening. Half 3 is the latest we can have our ceremony how did you plan out your timing for the rest of the day. Do you mind saying how much the pianist cost. Also which room did you have your ceremony in the boardroom with arch windows or the bigger banquet room i cannot picture that room for the ceremony as its so big and the bar is in it etc. Any chance i could see some photos. Did you get any extras thrown into package most hotels give the parents rooms or somehting on your 1st anniversary but i dont see anything for Westgrove. Sorry for all the questions but we are doing it quiet quickly and on a budget. Thanks a mill for your help, Tina
